‘[He is] the golden retriever of snakes’: Owner meets his childhood pet after being away for 2 years, the noodle instantly recognizes him, leading to a heartwarming reptilian reunion

Snakes don't get as much love as they should, if you ask us. Sure, dogs are great. Cats are also ameowzing. Bunnies are pretty cute, too. But what does it take for a goofy little snake to get a little love around here?? We're here to change the narrative on snakes as pets - they're not gross, they're just silly little noodles who are actually quite cute companions. If you don't believe us, you might after reading the story of this heartwarming reptilian reunion below.

Just because snakes are cold-blooded doesn't mean that they have cold hearts. After being away for two years, this owner finally met his childhood pet (the snake) again and the snake immediately recognized him. He goes on to write, "[He] slithered out of the little rock he normally stays in and wouldn't get off me as soon as I got him out." - that sounds like love to us!   • We had no idea snakes could recognize their owners, but we guess it makes sense. If you spend all your waking hours in the same room as someone, you would probably recognize them even if they were away for a while. The fact that he slithered right up to them and wouldn't let go is just the most wholesome thing.

  • 25-40 years?? Holy moly. Hold on, let us fact-check this for a second…okay, Google says that in captivity they usually live between 20-30 years, with the oldest ever recorded getting up to 60 years old!!! That's one old noodle!
